What is Chess365?
Chess365 gives you one checkmate puzzle a day. There are 4,000 of them, 1,000 each at mate in 2, 3, 4 and 5. You always play White, and White always moves first.
You do not look up the answer. You play it. Any legal move can be made, right or wrong, and Black answers on its own with the toughest defense it can find. A wrong idea fails on the board the way it would in a real game, and a stalemate counts as a draw, not a win.
It is the chess sibling of Shogi365 and Sudoku365, and follows the same design: one puzzle a day, a streak to keep, and a few minutes that fit on a train or before bed.

4,000 Puzzles in Four Lengths
Easy is mate in 2, Medium mate in 3, Hard mate in 4, Expert mate in 5. Every problem was generated and checked by the app's own solver.
- The shortest mate is exactly the advertised length

- Every white piece is needed, and no black piece is only decoration
- Positions are legal and the material is something a real game could show
Play It Out, Don't Peek
The board plays Black for you, so your calculation is tested the way it is in a game.
- Any legal move can be played
- Black defends as long as the line still forces mate, and escapes once it does not
- A line that ends without mate fails, and so does stalemate. Try again, up to three times
- Promotion lets you pick a queen, rook, bishop or knight. Sometimes the under-promotion is the answer
The Daily Challenge
Everyone in the world gets the same puzzle each day, a mate in 2, 3 or 4. Solve it to grow your streak, and the home screen shows your last seven days.
Hints That Leave the Move to You
Stuck? A hint blinks the piece to move and the square it goes to. You still make the move yourself. You start with ten hints and earn another each time you solve the daily challenge.
