What is StudyX Japanese Letters Tracer?

StudyX Japanese Letters Tracer is a simple, focused app for learning the stroke order of hiragana and katakana. Trace each character stroke by stroke with a stylus, a Logitech Crayon, or just your finger. It works for kids writing Japanese for the first time, elementary students polishing their handwriting, and Japanese learners.

Each character is shown with an animated stroke-by-stroke guide, and you can tap the speaker button to hear its reading. A Large, Medium, Small size button and an optional centerline guide let the app match your level. The app does not grade your strokes. It is a one-time purchase with no ads and no in-app purchases, so nothing interrupts your practice. On iPhone it runs in landscape.

Key Features

Animated Stroke-by-Stroke Guides

Watch each stroke drawn one at a time, then trace it yourself. When you lift your finger or pen, the next stroke starts, so the correct order becomes a habit.

142 Kana Characters

71 hiragana and 71 katakana: the basic 46 of each plus dakuten (が, ザ) and handakuten (ぱ, ポ) forms. Tap a letter in the hiragana chart, then switch to its dakuten, handakuten or katakana form with the buttons at the top of the practice screen. Yoon combinations such as きゃ and small kana are not included.

Tap to Hear the Reading

Press the speaker button to hear the reading of the character you are tracing, connecting writing practice with listening.

Character Size and Guides

The Large, Medium, Small button scales the model character and the line width. Toggle the dotted centerlines to check proportions. Both settings are kept when you close the app.

Completely Ad-Free

Pay once and practice without distractions. No ads, no in-app purchases, no login.
