What is StudyX Mindsports?
StudyX Mindsports is a collection of twelve mind sports for iPhone, iPad and Android. It is made for beginners and families who want to learn these games together, with lessons that explain the rules step by step in 15 languages.
You play against a CPU that goes from Lv.1 to Lv.50. Win and it moves up a level, lose and it moves down one. You can review a finished game move by move, take moves back, or hand the device over for a two-player match. Games play offline and there is no signup. The app is free with ads, and a one-time purchase removes the ads and opens every advanced lesson.
Key Features
Twelve Games
The home screen lists the official mind sports of the IMSA first, then the other games.
- Shogi, Chess, Go (9x9) and Xiangqi
- International Draughts (10x10) and Checkers (8x8)
- Bridge, from the auction to the play, with three CPU players at the table
- Mahjong with Chinese Official rules, four players
- Backgammon with the doubling cube, Daifugo, Disk Flip and Block Place
Lessons in 15 Languages
Beginner lessons cover 11 of the 12 games, everything except International Draughts. You answer small quizzes with a tap to learn the rules, then practice in real positions. Advanced lessons cover 11 games as well. The first advanced lesson of each game is free.
A CPU from Lv.1 to Lv.50
Win and the CPU moves up a level, lose and it moves down one. The end of game dialog shows the change. Levels are grouped into ranks from Novice to Master, and the home screen shows how far you are on the way to Lv.50.
Two Players, on One Device or Nearby
Nine of the board games can be played by two people passing one device back and forth. Daifugo and Mahjong also support Nearby Play, where friends join a room from their own devices.
Review and Improve
- Review: step through a finished game one move at a time (Shogi, Chess, Go, Xiangqi, International Draughts, Checkers and Disk Flip)
- Undo, the move list, and a clock from 1 to 60 minutes per player or no clock at all
- Continue a CPU game of Go, Shogi, Chess or Xiangqi from where you left it
A Little Every Day
Today's challenge picks one game each day and gives you a lesson to finish, or a CPU game to win. The app counts your streak in days, and achievements mark your first win, Lv.10, Lv.30 and Lv.50 wins, finished lessons and 3, 7 and 30 day streaks.
